The Best Birthday Present Ever Told

This past Sunday for my brother's birthday, I decided to make my him the most ridiculous gift ever. I took the picture from my 20th birthday party invitation video and signed it. I then put it in a Hannah Montana gift bag with a gift card meant for a two year old girl. Needless to say, my brother really enjoyed it.

Desktop Computer 2.0

Since the Christmas of my sophomore year of high school (4.5 years ago!), my desktop computer has served me faithfully. From the days Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead Expansion Pack to Battlefield 2, from English essays to my adventures in Linux it has always been there for me - by my side (and literally the right side of my desk). It has processed its last bit, flipped its last FLOP and is off to computer heaven, the dumpster down the street from me. But all is not lost! With every end comes a new beginning. That is why, today, I just finished ordering the parts to my new desktop computer.

University of Arizona InterVarsity Chapter Website

After many months of hard work, I have finally finished the new InterVarsity website for the University of Arizona chapter (check it out: www.uaiv.org). It will be a great resource for both new students and current InterVarsity club members. The site has tons of useful features for sharing information on events and updates for the chapter as well as forums and a place to post pictures of club activities. By integrating the site with our university listserv, I hope to encourage greater use of our site not only this year but years to come. Check it out!

Facebook Brick Wall Application

Since Facebook launched is development platform nearly a year ago, it has slowly transformed from a legitimate social-networking website to a MySpace 2.0. It now seems that every time I log onto Facebook I am bombarded with a myriad of invites to ridiculously stupid and useless applications. Whatever happened to the good ol’ days when Facebook was at least semi-professional? Granted, some applications are cool, but honestly, you don’t need to advertise to everyone on Facebook what your top 10 favorite YouTube videos are or what your favorite Starbucks drink is (these are real applications!). And I don’t think anyone in the world gives a rat’s tail which Beyonce song best describes you (this too is a real application!!).

That is why a few months ago, I took it upon myself to create my own Facebook application. One that I could use to protest what Facebook has become as well as use as an annoyance device for those who continually try to invite me to applications. I’m happy to say that after countless hours of learning the Facebook API, php and the proprietary FBML – Facebook Markup Language - I have finally finished the Brick Wall application for good!

This simple application’s only purposes are to take up space on a user’s profile page as well as give the user the ability to annoy his/her friends by providing the user with an easy-to-use invitation page. Soon, people will realize the utter uselessness of Facebook applications and be begging to get rid of them for good. Enjoy!

Keychain Upgrade

Yesterday, I decided to upgrade my keychain from an old Pentium III to an AMD Athlon 64 3200+. I took the old processor out of my broken computer, cleaned it off with some Isopropyl alcohol and drilled a hole through the corner. It’s much nicer than my old one since it is not as big and the corners aren’t as sharp. One day, I would like to get a Pentium Core 2 Duo on there, but for now the AMD will have to suffice.
